In 1999 Gulfpoint Construction facilitated the building of Lake-Sumter's baseball and softball fields. The fields needed to be ready for the opening day of the season in the spring of 2000.

Both fields were built from the ground up. Both baseball and softball fields have a  press box and batting cages. The batting cages have a metal building over the top of the cages.

For many years, the original scoreboard at Swanson Stadium served us well. With the unbelievable success experience by FGCU Alum Chris Sale (Boston Red Sox, National College Player of the Year at FGCU, and 7-time American League All-Star selection), his gift of $ 1 million Video-Score Board is a huge donation by any standard. And who best to create the plan and install this Board --- Gulfpoint Construction! This new Board adds not only a very practical need at Swanson Stadium, but this enhances what you and Duane envisioned so many years ago.

Your work at FGCU, FSW, and Lee County Schools exemplifies the value of a community business working closely with our Public-School Systems. I’d be remiss by not mentioning your outstanding support of S.W. Florida Charitable causes. The Huether Family and the Huether business have long been at the forefront of so many wonderful causes, supporting a wide range of organizations.

Thank you, once again, for your outstanding work at FGCU, for your support of our “Hometown University,” and for your friendship!

Wishing you continued success,

As I am sitting in my office at FGCU, reflecting on the amazing growth and development we’ve experienced, as a University and as an athletic program, it brings back fond memories of our early years, and more recently, wonderful thoughts on the new Chris and Brianne Sale Video-Score Board at Swanson Stadium. From our humble beginnings to today’s successes, we’ve been fortunate to have Gulfpoint Construction and the Huether family as friends, supporters, and a company that does quality work on our campus. I look back at the early meetings to plan the baseball and softball complexes at FGCU, and there sits John Huether and Duane Swanson Sr., along with a handful of others. It was John and Duane that led the charge Duane in so many ways and John offering up his skills and support for construction. With your help, the initial fields and stadiums were “state of the art “facilities, no better NCAA Division II facilities in the state of Florida (and that’s quite an achievement!). And the initial stadium seating was top notch. Gulfpoint Construction played a key role in this development. Without your thoughtful input and ideas, these facilities would not have been the quality they turned out to be.

As FGCU grew and matured into the Division I Program, we needed to improve our facilities. Once again, the Huether family and Gulfpoint Construction stepped up to improve the Swanson Stadium. The addition of Guest Suites and a magnificent Press Box, all created and built by Gulfpoint Construction, made our baseball facility the best in the ASUN Conference and the best mid-major facility in Florida! And over the years, I can’t count the number of times we reached out to you and J.D. for advice, counsel, and help you were always there for us.
